Team Manager is the application that resource managers use for managing their resources (people). Team Manager provides resource managers with a way to:
- Manage Resource Requests—The ability
to approve or decline resource requests from project managers. (Project managers submit these requests using the workspace-level Resource Allocation
application.) Note: There are certain circumstances in which resource requests are automatically approved. For details, see Auto-Approval of Resource Requests.
- View Resources—A convenient way to see how the people they manage are being
used.
By default, Team Manager is accessible to
users with an enterprise role of Resource Manager, Executive or Administrator.
Team Manager Views
Team Manager has two main views, the
Resource Allocations screen (the default view), and
the Non-Project Work screen. Options below the Tab toolbar let you switch between the views.
- Resource
Allocations (the default view)—The Resource Allocations view displays requested
and approved allocations and lets resource managers manage the resources for whom they are responsible. The bulk of a resource manager's time is spent on this screen. For more information, see About the
Resource Allocation View in Team Manager.
- Non-Project
Work—Resource managers and supervisors use Team Manager to manage non-project work. In Team Manager they can create, assign, edit and delete non-project work as necessary. Assigned non-project work becomes available for users to add to timesheets and enter time against. For more information, see About Non-Project Work.
- The Non-Project
Work view displays existing non-project work and allows resource managers to
edit and delete any non-project work.
- The Create Non-Project Work option opens the Create Non-Project Work Item window. Here resource managers add non-project work for users they manage. For more information, see Creating
Non-Project Work.
